Tourists visiting Uttarakhand will now get special concessions, additional services, and enhanced hospitality when staying at the rest houses of the state’s largest tourism regulatory body, the Garhwal Mandal Vikas Nigam (GMVN). The state-owned GMVN will offer substantial discount packages to tourists who have repeatedly stayed in its rest houses and are identified as privileged guests for the coming tourism season.
Encouraged by the highest-ever profit earned by GMVN during the 2024 pilgrimage and tourism season, it has now decided to offer special concessional offers to its privileged customers from the next season, which is likely to commence in April-May 2025. GMVN officials informed that a database of 2,50,000 customers, who preferred to stay in its more than 90 state tourist rest houses in the past, has been compiled. Of these, GMVN has earmarked 50,000 customers as special category or privileged guests, as they have repeatedly preferred to stay in its tourist rest houses.

A plan is underway to roll out special concessional packages for those customers of GMVN Uttarakhand who have been identified as privileged. They will be sent reminders and messages of special offers through our WhatsApp handle to be launched soon. Efforts are on to transform GMVN into a more organised and professionally managed body. Apart from improvising the existing packages and plans, we will introduce new schemes and services for the tourists in the upcoming tourism season,” informed GMVN Managing Director Vishal Mishra.
Mishra stated that GMVN registered its highest-ever profit of more than ₹30 crore in 2024 with its existing system of services for tourists. According to him, GMVN’s profits can increase by leaps and bounds with little improvement in its services, customer-friendly approaches, concession schemes, enhanced facilities, and new packages. Mishra stated that tourists staying in GMVN rest houses in the coming days will also witness better hospitality and services compared to their past experiences. GMVN will also prepare a database of customers’ birthdays to greet them in time and help them celebrate during their stay at its properties.
